25 Jun Improve your home during lockdown

If you have been furloughed from work, you’ll be no stranger to having a little extra time on your hands. The Coronavirus lockdown has been a tough time for many people, with the weather being beautiful, many of us would prefer to be out and about visiting friends and family.

We’ve been chatting to some of our friends and family about how they’ve stayed occupied during the lock down and found that a common past time has been a little home improvement and DIY. This is the perfect thing to be doing during this time, especially if you’re thinking of moving soon; it’s a great opportunity to get those odd jobs you’ve been putting off done.

We’ve put together some ideas of things you might want to get done before you head back out into the normal world; and remember, if you are thinking of selling your property or looking for properties for sale in Colnbrook and the surrounding areas make sure you give us a call on 01753 683000 or email us.

Brighten up your bathroom

Freshening up a bathroom or WC needn’t be an expensive and complicated project; with a few small changes you can breathe new life into your bathroom, en suite or WC. If you have tiles, giving the grouting a good clean or even redoing it entirely can make a huge difference to the aesthetic of your room.

Also updating taps, mirrors and installing a heated towel rail can make your bathroom look and feel brand new. Add some bright window dressings and towels and you have a bathroom fit for Home and Country Magazine!

Welcome home

Pay some attention to your front door; it’s often the first thing visitors see when they come to your home. If you have a Plastic front door, giving it a good clean can make a huge difference to the way it looks, especially in busy and built up areas, you’ll be amazed at how dirty they can get over time and it’s not something you might have thought about cleaning in the past.

If you have a wooden door then a thorough sanding and repainting can improve the whole façade of your property. It might take you some time and a bit of elbow grease, but according to research by Zillow, properties with black or dark grey front doors sold for more than £5,000 more than expected in 2019.

Refresh your living room

You have probably spent more time in the living room recently than you have in the past. Why not take some time to do some basic rearranging and maybe even decluttering. If you can live without it, pop it somewhere safe to store it. Why not rearrange your shelves, move around any family photos so that you have a new layout to look at?

You could even move the furniture around to give yourself a fresh perspective on the room – you’ll be surprised at how a different angle can give a room a whole new appeal; and what’s more, it’s something you can do for free.
